Recovery

For most cataract surgeries, the patient will go home on the same day. Your eyes may feel sore for a few days after your surgery. You may also experience tearing and difficulty seeing well in bright light.

Medical and lubricating eye drops will start after the procedure to reduce the risk of infection, eye pressure, or inflammation. Your doctor or a staff member will follow up with you to check in on your condition.

Recovery from cataract surgery depends on the patient’s eye condition and healing process. Patients can usually expect to have excellent vision one week after surgery. Complete healing normally occurs within three to four weeks.

It is normal to feel itching and mild discomfort following the surgery. You should contact our office if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Pain

  • Eyelid swelling or redness

  • Vision worsening or loss

  • Light flashes or floaters
